Dignity
We report on people, not at them. We seek informed consent, avoid gratuitous harm, and take special care with vulnerable individuals and communities.
Accuracy over speed
We would rather be second and right than first and wrong. No story publishes until it meets our verification bar.
Fairness
We give those we report on a genuine opportunity to respond, and we represent their position honestly.
Accountability
We hold ourselves to the same scrutiny we apply to others. Complaints about our conduct are reviewed by an independent standards editor.
